Books (and Zucchinis) are Springing Up All Over!

It’s that time of year so get ready for the Friends of Duncan Library Spring Book Sale and with it the “Second Ever, Apparently Annual, Outdoor, Food and Fun-Filled Book Bonanza.”

Held in conjunction with the MV Big Flea on Saturday April 24, the Spring Book Sale and Bonanza is one of the library’s biggest fundraising events.

Activities kick-off on Wednesday, April 21 with Members-Only preview sale. On Thursday and Friday, the Spring Book Sale is open to the general public. But the real fun starts on Saturday.

One Saturday, April 24 from 9am to 4pm, we’ll host our 2nd annual “Outdoor Bonanza.” In addition to thousands of books, CDs, DVD, videogames, records, and videotapes for sale, we will feature

– FREE children’s performances by The Great Zucchini, Buford the Bear, and several other friends!
– Hourly giveaways and prizes
– Awesome local vendors such as Rockland’s BBQ

In all, it’s a great day of fun and a wonderful place to spend some time before and after the MV Big Flea.

But that’s not all. On Monday and Tuesday (Apr 26-27), we will offer two full days of deeply discounted delights — a chance to close down the sale with the lowest book prices in town. (Psst! We’re saving some boxes of new, unseen donations for these discount days so even if you’ve stopped by before you’ll want to come by again to see what we added!)

Look for flyers with additional information and performance times at the library and around town. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Thom Downing of the Friends of the Duncan Library at
